  3. Activate planning: it is essential that all project managers understand the importance of planning. The most effective way is to make it clear that those who are faster always have more options. All this works only if the plan is full enough to push everyone to move so as not to run out of choices. All initiatives that push in this direction are useful for the purpose. For example, I usually always have one or two internal projects (with us there are always a lot of ideas and little time to carry them out) that I use to plan the people I see as free. When I see the plan a little empty I get busy and magically everyone worries about not seeing the key people walk away from the projects.
  4. If the schedule is activated, everything else goes smoothly. To plan, you need an approved budget, and budgeting is only possible for pipeline projects. The trick here is not to allow parallel channels: I never review a budget if it's not on WETHOD. No excel, no prospectus, no power point.
  5. Be convinced and determined. In the end, you have to understand why you want to do it and that you believe it. Only then will there be no boycotts. On the other hand, it is clear that if you approach it as a weak attempt in which you throw away the starting point and hope that it will start on its own, you waste time and hope. No change is easy but I assure you that if you are convinced this thing will be up to speed in less than a week. If it doesn't work, it's only because you haven't understood it or you don't believe it enough. And then you probably don't deserve it.
